Biographical Info

Mimi Nichter is Professor Emerita at the University of Arizona where she holds joint appointments in the School of Anthropology, College of Public Health, and the School of Consumer Sciences. Her research has focused on tobacco use among adolescents and emerging adults in the U.S., and she has also been involved in school-based prevention. With funding from the Fogarty Center at NIH, She has conducted longitudinal research and interventions in India and Indonesia focused on tobacco cessation and the development of smoke free homes. She has published extensively on tobacco-related topics, including  Lighting Up: The Rise of Social Smoking among College Students (NYU Press, 2015). Email: mimin@email.arizona.edu
